Rauschenberg:
Photems
In his Photems (1981-91), Rauschenberg adopts the syntactical structure
of the totem. They are photographic works: multiple photographs are joined
without margins or separations and mounted on large vertical aluminum
panels. Although taken at different times and locations, they are all
self-complimentary urban images. The fragmented image structure does not
allow for an exact reading according to logic.
