In 2001 Brooke Alexander and David Zwirner Gallery
co-published the Raymond
Pettibon project Plots
On Loan.
This collaboration had been 10 years in the making, and by the time it
was released composed an oversized artist's book and two print portfolios.
Plots
On Loan is a hardbound artist's book that is a collection
of lithographs by the artist. 72 pages in length, the entire work is printed
in lithography on Somerset Mauve paper, and includes lithographed front
and back covers and colophon page.
The lithographs inside the book cover the full range of Pettibon's technique
and iconography. The artist's common motiffs, such as the surfer, domestic
strife, religion, locomotive trains, space ships, and esoteric text passages
are all found within.
Coinciding with the book's release was the publication of two print portfolios
that contain images from the the book project. Plots
On Loan I is a set of 10 lithographs, in a limited
edition of 35. Plots
On Loan II is a set of 6 lithographs, also in an edition
of 35.
